Long-term hybrid galvanic corrosion protection of reinforced-concrete structures

Hybrid corrosion protection (HCP) can be used to provide arrest and prevention in degrading reinforced-concrete structures increase their service life. The proprietary technology is a relatively new electrochemical treatment for concrete structures, having been patented 2005 (patent GB2426008B). Due this fact, accurate reliable empirical data over the life span of structure protected by an HCP system does not yet exist. This paper first present 10 years data, from one very installations HCP, providing rigorous assessment structure's long-term performance. Results demonstrate that hybrid galvanic anodes exhibit responsive behaviour maintain environment respond hazards. Even after prolonged periods low current output, changing environmental conditions, higher output required afford necessary polarisation reinforcement, hence structure. Steel potentials also continued trend towards more positive values, generally agreed indication passive reinforcement. Overall, study unique, being continuous, performance on structures.
